People on both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to the Chinese nation, sharing a deep understanding of the values of peace, harmony, and unity embodied in the Spring Festival, according to China’s State Council Taiwan Affairs Office on Wednesday.
With only 50 days left until the Spring Festival of the Year of the Snake, Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, extended her heartfelt wishes for people across the Taiwan Strait to celebrate the festival together and to collectively promote the rich and vibrant traditions of Spring Festival culture.
Zhu said that the Spring Festival is the most important cultural symbol for Chinese people.
Spring Festival, the most important traditional holiday for the Chinese people, is a time to bid farewell to the old, welcome the new, and celebrate family reunions, Zhu added.
“Spring Festival, social practices of the Chinese people in celebration of the traditional new year” was inscribed on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on last Wednesday.
