The press conference of preliminary preparation for the 6th Beijing International Art Biennale (BIAB) was held in Beijing. Under the theme of Memory and Dream, this BIAB is planned to take place in the autumn of 2015 in Beijing. The new version of official website of BIAB was launched at the same time. 

As Zuo Zhongyi, vice president of CFLAC and one of the chief curators of BIAB, expressed, the theme “Memory and Dream” is important to any individual or group and even to a country or a nation. Memory connects human civilization and dream carries it forward. Despite the differences in politics, economy, culture and society between countries, all the people and all the artists bear a similar dream and expectation for a better home and harmonious life. As Wu Changjiang, executive vice president of China Artists Association (CAA) and another chief curator, said, the theme of this session is intended to reduce limitation and show an open manner, especially encouraging young artists’ active participation. On the basis of extensive selection, the organizing committee will invite a batch of influential artists to ensure the overall level of domestic exhibitions. 

BIAB, jointly sponsored by CFLAC, Beijing Municipality and CAA, has been successfully held on five sessions since 2003. Adopting painting and sculpture of modern creation as main forms, BIAB involves installation, video and comprehensive materials as well. So far, over 3000 artists from nearly 100 countries participated in the BIAB with more than 3000 artworks with the audiences of over 1 million.
