the auction price of 2.05 million RMB, those 18 over-a-century-old photos, with the topic of “Lost Beijing”, were taken by an English-Italian photo journalist Felice Beato who followed the UK-France Alliance army. Those photos constitute the invasion routine of UK-France Alliance army and provide a record of their brutal aggression and crazy devastation on royal gardens. The location of those photo taking are Beitang in Tianjin, Dagukou Fort, Buddha Pagoda in Tongzhou District, North Sea, Temple of Heaven, Front Gate of Lama Temple, Forbidden City and Summer Palace. Among them six photos taken from above the Meridian Gate constitute the panorama of ancient Beijing.
