As an important part of the Croisements Festival sponsored by French Embassy in China, the 3rd Caochangdi PhotoSpring, jointly curated by Thinking Hands and The Three Shadows Photography Art Centre, will be opened in Beijing Caochangdi Art District on April 21.
This event will continue its great support to young Chinese photographers with coverage of extensive international vision. During the course, the cooperator of this PhotoSpring, art galleries and agencies in Caochangdi and 798 Art Districts will hold joint domestic or international photography exhibitions of various types. The exhibitions are estimated to be 30th anniversary of Fund in Loire—French Contemporary Art Collection, Kangdeng County, works from Jean-Christian Bourcart, the 2011 Nadar Award winner, and the possibility of oil painting and photography in discussion of Japanese artist Hisaji Hara. On the day of the opening ceremony, the winner of the 4th Three Shadows Photography Award will be announced and the selected works will be exhibited in the meantime in this PhotoSpring as well. Besides, the famous curator of Arles International Photography Festival, Francois Hebel will plan a special exhibition for young photographers.
Caochangdi PhotoSpring is an international gala of photography, and famous photographic institutions and individuals both at home and abroad will be invited here every year. Ever since the 1st session in 2010 on, this event has invited 275 artists, 27 art agencies as well as mass of international photography celebrities to stage 42 excellent exhibitions. This event has its origin from the cooperation with the internationally leading Arles International Photography Festival. In the past 40 years, Arles International Photography Festival has become a get-together for artists, professionals and amateurs of photography, where they discover the new trend and re-interpret those masterpieces. The curators of Caochangdi PhotoSpring are devoted to establishing a brand new platform in Beijing. Through this annual exhibition, more Chinese photographers, collectors and professionals and their foreign counterparts who are interested in China will be enabled to grasp the essence of photographic art in China.
