As it happened to be Mothers’ Day, after singing songs in praise of mothers, Song presented flowers to Madame Gu Yan Zhuoyun and the aunt of 83 years old in her sincere affection. Therefore, it was also a night of Thanksgiving to mothers as well. Reaching one climax after another, the performance was permeated with deep emotions. With a perfect harmony and interaction between the singer, guests and the audiences, the atmosphere of this concert was full of unprecedented enthusiasm. This grand event on the basis of across-the-Strait cultural exchange not only exhibits the unique art charms of folk songs, but also connects the cultural relations shared by the Chinese compatriots across the Strait, who are naturally bound together because of the same blood and origin. Therefore this performance was highly-valued on both sides of the Strait.

Song struck her splendid pose on the stage with the song All Birds Paying Homage to Phoenix and thunderous drum music set off the passionate atmosphere of the scene. She not only sung folk songs such as The Dragon Tone from Hubei Province, The Running Riverlet of Yunnan Province, The Soaring Songs of Miao Mountains of Guizhou Province, Love Song at Kangding from Sichuan Province and Little Back Basket adapted from folk songs of Sichuan and West Hunan, but also specially dedicated two Taiwanese folk songs Collecting Arecanut and Girls of Ali Mountain. Besides folk songs, she also performed songs from Opera Ode to Coral and Mengjiang Lady and newly-composed popular songs in reflection of time feature such as Happy Days, Soaring Song of the Land, Blue Blue Sky and so on. All these songs popular and well-received in Mainland also held Taiwan audiences spellbound. Some favorable commentaries came pouring in, like “Every song is very beautiful.” “Although I have heard of Song’s songs before, I am greatly amazed by the live performance. It is quite a brand new feeing!”
The sensational effect of Song Zuying’s performance in Taiwan and this top-level event of folk music in the form of charitable public welfare have undoubtedly promoted cultural exchange across the Strait to a new horizon. Although it is the first time that Song has held her concert in Taiwan, the sponsor have their confidence to the end only in the firm belief that cultures of Mainland and Taiwan are closely linked. Taiwan compatriots’ fascination of the concert just comes from the common ground of the same culture and origin, the same blood of big Chinese family, and mutual inheritance and recognition of the excellent Chinese traditional culture. Through this concert, the same cultural identity has been expressed through the same happiness and affection. Amid the deep emotion and auspicious musical atmosphere, the distance across the Strait has been obviously shortened and the brotherhood of compatriots reinforced as well. In this way, Taiwan natives are able to experience the art charms of great Chinese culture in a more direct and vivid way. In this sense, it is not exaggerated to define that Song’s performance, as a milestone in the process of cultural exchange across the Strait, will lead to a significant impact in the future.
