China has released its first five-year plan for cultural heritage protection and preservation. It bolsters legal safeguards, upgrades museum management and transforms museums beyond static displays.
For the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), China will draft heritage protection laws and survey movable cultural relics. It targets a complete catalog of all cultural heritage assets by 2030, building on the prior five-year period that saw over 6.2 billion museum visits and 224,000 exhibitions nationwide.
