The 2026 Jianli Percussion Arts Festival concluded on the evening of Aug 11, following its final symphonic concerto at the Shandong Grand Theatre concert hall in Jinan, East China's Shandong province.
Running from Aug 7 to 11, the festival combined masterclasses, sectional rehearsals and themed concerts. The program provided young musicians with a comprehensive platform for study and artistic practice.
The closing concert was conducted by Yang Li, with the Quancheng Symphony Orchestra serving as the accompanying ensemble. The performance presented the festival's achievements while creating a dialogue between contemporary European percussion music and original Chinese works for percussion and symphony orchestra.

Among the highlights was Concertino Luminosity by Polish percussion composer Tomasz Golinski, performed by Italian percussionist Filippo Lattanzi. The work showcased an interplay between solo percussion and symphonic forces, creating a transparent and richly layered soundscape.
The festival's schedule was structured around a progression of instruction, rehearsal and performance. The Jianli Percussion Ensemble opened the festival with a concert on Aug 7. From Aug 8 onward, daytime activities followed a regular program of masterclasses and rehearsals.

The teaching faculty represented a diverse range of professional backgrounds, including international performers, university faculty members and musicians from professional orchestras. Lyu Zhengdao, Mo Hanyin, Xu Dongliang, Peng Shuali, Lyu Fangge, Chen Ge led the masterclasses. Two specialized public classes were presented by Kai Strobel and Lattanzi. The diverse faculty gave young participants opportunities to explore different schools of percussion performance and pedagogy.
The final day of the festival was dedicated to intensive rehearsals for the closing concert. Throughout Aug 11, musicians focused on refining the balance between soloists and the orchestra, stage coordination, and other performance details, laying the groundwork for the evening's final presentation.
