The Rakatan Ballet was founded in Havana on August 7, 2001 by its director and choreographer Nilda Guerra Sanchez. The company is composed of 35 dancers, all of whom are professionally trained graduates from the National Art School, with superb skills and rich experience.
The company has been exploring new creative frontiers since its reception. Its has been advised by a prestigious group of specialists in classical ballet, folk dance, popular dance and Flamenco dance, who organically merge the rhythms with a contemporary vision and have created a number of productions with unique styles.
As one of the most popular and prestigious ballet companies in Cuba, the Rakatan Ballet has developed a wide repertoire with distinctive appeals of Cuba and toured many cities around the world. |
