The France "Tomorrow" World Circus Festival (hereinafter referred to as "Tomorrow" Circus Festival) was cofounded by Elizabeth and Dominique Moccle in 1977, and has been successfully held for 40 sessions.
On February 3rd, the 40th French "Tomorrow" World Circus Festival came to a close amid warm cheers and applause. During the four-day circus festival, nearly 100 artists from 22 countries and regions have dedicated 5 wonderful acrobatic feasts to the audiences from all over the world, nearly 20,000 people have watched the show. Among the 22 participating groups, the Teeterboards program from Sweden's "Scandinavian Boards" claimed the highest award "The French Republic President Award", Meteors of the Dalian Acrobatic Troupe of China and Arthur Morel Van Heft's Trapeze-dance program of France won the gold medal and was awarded the "Great Wall Cup", a special prize from the China Acrobats Association. The other 6 teams received 2 silver medals and 4 bronze medals.
The Organizing Committee of the "Tomorrow" Circus Festival consists of 9 people. Each year, nearly 30 shows are invited for competitions, with more than 100 cast members. The jury consists of 10 members, including the head of the circus group, the president of the International Circus Festival, the circus critics and the winners of the previous festival Gold Awards. They evaluate and assess the technical difficulty, artistic arrangement, live presentation and interaction with the audience for each program. The program receives awards based on the number of points scored. The awards include the "The French Republic President Award", gold, silver, bronze medals and special prizes. The performances are divided into Game A, Game B and awarding gala showing.
The awards evening gala was very exciting, starting by first 15 acrobatic girls dressed in practice clothes, and they walked through the audience by groups, performing acrobatics, such as top-downing and high-altitude throwing, showcasing the acrobatics art to the audience in a close distance, and the charm and beauty of the human body. They also constantly interacted with the audience and gradually ignited their enthusiasm amid the program. Reaching the climax, the audience on the side of the stage raised their hands and made joint efforts to move a performer from the stage to the end of the audience seats through their heads. The scene was most lively and enthusiastic.
The audience also spontaneously organized the waves of people, followed by climax one after another. After that, the awardwinning programs were staged in sequence - the Japanese Mizuki Shinagawa's Tissue, dancing in the bright red silk like a fairy, beautiful and intoxicating; German God Hook trio wearing Tai Chi clothes, flipping and blending the Chinese Kung Fu into acrobatics, combining Chinese and Western quite well; American Ellie Rossi's Vertical Rope, she wore a T-hot-pant, like a neighboring girl "playing" on the rope, the rhythm was easy and bright, making people feel a trace of freshness; the Russia's "Troupe Efimov" combination was a classic, with the theme of marriage proposal, it showed the superb skills of the flipping in the rhythm of cheerful jumping, pushing all the audience to the climax; the France Arthur Morel Van Hyfte's "Trapezedance" started the action in a slow and classical music, forming "sculpture" one after another, feeling the beauty of power; the first half was ended with the Meteors program of the Dalian Acrobatic Troupe of China, the water meteors flew up and down amid eternal spinning, its unique skills presented people with a refreshing feeling. All wonderful performances have won the cheers of the audience again and again.
The second half of the show was still very fascinating. The tightrope, silk hanging, aerial belt, handstand and even the topbox show caught audience's nerves and hearts, they were all amazed by the performers' superb strength and balance skills. The whole performance ended with the Springboard program finale - 7 tall and handsome young men from Northern Europe flew up and down on three springboards, swaying around like a magic bullet, creating beautiful flowers in the air, which has pushed the show to the final climax. After the performance, the award ceremony was held for the deserved receivers, marking that the entire circus festival also concluded successfully.
Throughout the "Tomorrow" Circus Festival, there have been shows that focus more on the pursuit of ideas, the program is lighter with many new features as animal and burlesque performances have been removed. However, under these "new" conditions, the "Tomorrow" Circus Festival also has some unsatisfactory features - the characteristics of the program were somewhat similar. The main subjects of acrobatics, such as balance, swing, rolling ring, hand technique and rope hanging are the habitual selection of the acrobats, resulting in high homogeneity of the entire show; some programs were in the need for a certain preparation time, resulting in a slow pace of the evening performance. The only three multiplayer programs, Springboard, Meteors and Russia's Strap have achieved good results with an important position to ignite the evening to climax. It can also be concluded that China should give full play to the advantages of multiplayer programs. When selecting programs to go abroad for international competition, we should try to choose fast-paced programs. In addition, colorful props or costumes are also conducive to the creation of artistic conception, enhance visual impact, and sometimes make up for technical deficiencies and play a multiplier role.
