“Most Similarities and Inclusiveness” of Literary and Art Exchange in “B&R” Initiative
Art Exchange VOL.03/2017|

The literary and art exchange in this autumn is mainly characterized by “B&R” Initiative. Chinese music, film and calligraphy have gone abroad to demonstrate the ancient yet modern Chinese expressions to the countries along the Silk Road. Moreover, under the theme of “The Silk Road and World Civilization”, the 7th Beijing International Art Biennale (BIAB) came as scheduled with a new record of the total of 102 participant countries. The 601 artworks by 567 artists both at home and abroad commonly presented the spirit of exchange and mutual reference in world civilization, especially highlighting the integration rather than confrontation between the contemporary civilizations of the East and the West.

The encounter, exchange and integration between cultures have considerably incited the imagination and passion for innovation among artists as well as mass people. Along with the constant upgrade of international and modernization process, trans-cultural experience has become an eternal theme in the literary and art creation since the 20th century. Many successful works in literature and arts have manifested the experience and enlightenment of individuals or a whole nation in the international or global flow, which then evolves into a cultural temperament of globalization and finally reaches the novel civilization level of “exchange over estrangement, mutual reference over conflict and coexistence over superiority”.
Sometime back in history, dozens of countries along the “B&R” created cultures and civilizations of varied formalities and styles blessed with their profound source of history and culture. In the current circumstance of ‘B&R” Initiative, literary and art creation is no longer realized in the traditional way of a single person in a single period in a single place. Instead, the exquisite literary and artworks come out of common participation of creators from different countries and regions. Therefore, in the ongoing exchange and reference, it is of extraordinary significance to find out the “most similarity and inclusiveness” among varied cultures.
