“China Today” Arts Week Presented for Audiences from Thailand and Cambodia

On the evening of October 30, local time at Bangkok, Salachalermkrung Royal Theatre was filled with music and dance of Chinese character, echoing the waves upon waves of applauses. As an important part of 2013 China Today Arts Week, the premier variety performance took place here. Chinese art workers came from afar to present an art feast of Chinese taste to local audiences in Thailand who were totally fascinated.

Besides the 4 variety performances in Thailand and Cambodia, the other two parts—Chinese Film Show Week and Qinghai Folk Handicraft Exhibition were popular as well. The Qinghai exhibition consisted of 4 parts, Tangka, Embroidery and Paper Cut, Tibetan Embroidery and Piling Embroidery with special arrangement of live demonstration by folk artists so as for audiences to learn the process of manufacture. Chinese Film Weeek dedicated 6 excellent Chinese films and organized lectures for face-to-face communication with film fans in the two countries.

China Today Arts Week is an annual exchange event of Chinese contemporary culture and arts sponsored by CFLAC and its contents cover 11 disciplines such as theatre, film, music, fine arts, Quyi, folk arts, photography, calligraphy, acrobatics and TV. This year, the Arts Week was also part of celebrations on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of diplomatic relations establishment between China and Thailand, the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations establishment between China and Cambodia, China-Cambodia Friendship Year and 60th anniversary of Cambodian Independence. It is also the first time that China Today Arts Week has been staged in those two Southeastern countries.
