On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relationship established between China and Spain, Beauty of Chinese and Western Painting—Joint Exhibition of Liu Dawei and Linde was held on January 9 in Xi’an. Though Liu Dawei, president of China Artists Association, was famous for rich colors in fine brushwork and wash painting of figures, this time he presented his water-color paintings of western style. Fond of sketches in water colors, Liu’s painting demonstrated his full capacity and fascinating charm. Linde, a Spanish artist with the title of Spanish Cultural Ambassador conferred by Spanish government in 2012, gained his reputation in the West with his portrait of Spanish king and queen in an elegant and realistic style. His participant works are under the theme of Mount Huangshan in China. Close-up with strange pines and peculiar rocks, obscure landscape of mountain in the heavy fogs and clouds as well as vivid but mysterious dreamland, all those oil paintings are filled with freehand taste of Chinese ink and wash.
