Illusionary Reality—2012 Juan Miro Print Exhibition was opened in Shanghai Art Museum on January 15. With a duration of three months, this exhibition will last till April 3.
Juan Miro is a famous painter, sculptor, pottery-making artist and printer as well as a representative of surrealism in Spain. His paintings are well-known for the magnificent colors and simple but bold patterns. Along with over 170 works with span of more than half a century, this exhibition is the largest Miro’s print exhibition so far in China and showcases his works at various periods and change in creation styles in a complete way.
In recent years, Juan Miro’s works have witnessed a satisfactory achievement in artworks market. His representative works in 2007 Blue Stars knocked off in the auction fair in Paris, France with an unexpected price of 11.6 million euros, and another works titled Bird with the price of 6.2 million euros. Large-scale Juan Miro exhibitions were then staged consecutively throughout the world. In 2009, Insistent Pageant—Arts of Juan Miro Exhibition was presented in Zhejiang Arts Museum, and another Miro’s exhibition in Athens, Greece in 2010. On October 15, 2011, The Ladder of Escape—Juan Miro Exhibition was launched in Juan Miro Foundation in Barcelona. HRH Prince of Asturias Philip John Alphonses of All Saints and his spouse presided over the opening ceremony and inspected the exhibition with the accompaniment of then Spanish Minister of Culture, Ms Angeles Gonzalez Sinde. This exhibition was at Tate Modern Art Museum in London for five months, with over 300,000 visitors.
